The Server Assistant is a vital support role within the Food & Beverage team, ensuring the seamless flow of service in our dining venues. This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the dining room while assisting Servers in delivering a flawless guest experience. The Server Assistant must execute duties with speed and discretion, consistent with our Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star and Relais & Châteaux standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Servers in providing gracious food and beverage service, including the delivery of bread, water, and non-alcoholic beverages.

  • Clear courses unobtrusively and transport soiled wares to the dishwashing area, ensuring tables remain clutter-free throughout the meal.

  • Clean and reset tables immediately upon guest departure, adhering to specific departmental standards for alignment and presentation.

  • Maintain mastery of floor plans, table numbers, seat positions, and room capacities to assist with accurate service delivery.

  • Anticipate guest needs by observing the dining room and responding promptly to signals from guests or the service team.

  • Maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of all service stations, ensuring all wares and equipment are stocked and polished.

  • Maintain knowledge of hotel services and local attractions to provide accurate information to guests when approached.

  • Adhere to state liquor regulations and departmental policies regarding service safety.

  • Perform opening and closing side work duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and move frequently between service areas.

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. with stability and ease.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience as a Busser, Runner, or Server Assistant in a quality dining establishment.

  • Prior experience in a Forbes 5-Star or Relais & Châteaux property is preferred; however, candidates with a strong work ethic and a demonstrated commitment to mastering these rigorous standards will be considered.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Certification in an alcohol awareness program (e.g., TIPS) preferred.

  • Valid Driver’s License.
