Given the nature of Langdon Hall as a unique, luxury boutique property, every team member will serve as an ambassador for the Hotel and be a multi-functional individual who is driven to always exceed guests’ expectations with an attention for detail. Our team members possess strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude towards their work and their fellow colleagues while handling pressure situations.

The Junior Sous Chef is responsible for managing production and execution of all pastry menus offered by Langdon Hall. The Junior Sous Chef will be expected to train and supervise a staff of pastry cooks to execute production in the pastry line.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide a consistently exceptional experience for all guests 
• Ensure excellence in guest satisfaction by maintaining a positive and committed “Do 
Whatever It Takes” attitude 
• Participate in staff education plans, including on-the-job training 
• Maintain acceptable attendance record 
• Meet Health & Safety requirements 
• Be a personal representation of the service and overall hospitality of the staff of the 
property 
• Exceed the expectations of internal and external customers 
• Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices 
• Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using 
methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils 
• Supervise, instruct and assist with cleaning duties as required, and maintain a clean and 
safe work station 
• Supervise and assist when needed with receiving and storing food orders 
• Oversees the work of all kitchen staff 
• Receives direction from the executive chef 
• Helps maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen cleaning up spills and other potential hazards 
immediately 
• Trains newly hired kitchen staff and develops the skills of all kitchen staff 
• Makes sure adequate numbers of kitchen staff are scheduled to properly handle each 
day’s business needs 
• Participates in employee evaluations and necessary disciplinary actions 
• Meets with guests in the dining room when required 
• Places orders for recipe ingredients and other supplies 
• Ensures that all standards of safety are strictly observed 
• Looks for ways to save the facility money while still providing top quality products and 
services for clients 
• Possesses the ability to handle any menu ranging from breakfast buffets to corporate 
lunch meetings with sandwiches to formal dinners with multi-course meals that are 
individually plated, including extensive tasting menus 
• Travels to offsite areas when an event is held at another location 
• Assists with the development of dishes and menus 
• Perform other duties as required


Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required 

• Minimum 6 years in a similar role 
• Must have the ability to multi-task while remaining focused on the goal 
• Must have excellent verbal communication and leadership skills 
• Be able to express creativity through food selections, preparation and presentation 
• Must be detail oriented 
• Must have the ability to remain calm in high stress situations 
• Be able to solve problems quickly under pressure 
• Must have adequate upper body strength for heavy lifting and strong back and leg 
muscles for hours of standing, bending and walking 
• Ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with, work with and be tolerant of 
peers and supervisors 
• Ability to read, write, communicate and comprehend verbal and written instructions in 
English 
• Ability to be accurate, concise, & detail oriented 
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels of the organization 
• Exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team. 
• Effective time management skills to organize and prioritize workload

• Able to interact professionally both with guests and co-workers 
• Able to lift 50+ lbs

Signing Bonus: $500 (payable 3 months after start date)

Anniversary Bonus: $2000 (payable on 2nd anniversary and on every anniversary after that)
